Pentathlon overview
With the cooperation of the World Kettlebell Club, our league members are able to compete virtually with kettlebell lifters around the globe. All lifters in our local league will be judged by Master Trainer Kirk Orelup, and all submissions will be reviewed by Valery Fedorenko and the American Kettlebell Club. Competitors are also welcome to join in live competitions around the globe, including those held annually in Chicago.
Exercises
The Pentathlon consists of five single-arm events performed over six-minute periods with unlimited hand changes. A five minute reset will be permitted between each six-minute event. The events are listed below with their repetition limits. These events are posted with their respective links to Valery Fedorenko's public-access training videos.
Scoring
Scoring will be based on the amount of weight lifted and the number of reps achieved during each event. "Reps max" refers to the maximum number of repetitions (reps) permitted for each event. Any reps beyond the rep max will not be counted. Each qualifying rep will be multiplied by a factor of 1 point for every 8 kilograms of weight (equivalent to .25 points for every 2 kg). Weight ranges may vary from 8 to 32 kg kettlebells.
(Reps Per Event) x (Weight Factor) = Event Score
The sum of each of the five Event Scores will determine the Total Score. For example:
- 8KG = 1
- 12KG = 1.5
- 16KG = 2
- 20KG = 2.5
- 24KG = 3
- 28KG = 3.5
- 32KG = 4
(Reps Per Event) x (Weight Factor) = Event Score
The sum of each of the five Event Scores will determine the Total Score. For example:
- Clean with a 20 KG for 80 reps: 72 x 2.5 = 180
- Long Cycle Press with a 16 KG for 40 reps: 48 x 2 = 80
- Jerk with a 24 KG for 44 reps: 44 x 3 = 132
- Half Snatch with a 16 KG for 98 reps: 98 x 2 = 196
- Push Press with a 12 KG for 74 reps: 74 x 1.5 = 111
- Total Score: 699
Additional rules
