Introduction by Kirk Orelup: "Those who know me well know that I do not promote supplements. Instead, I educate my clients in the joys of a healthy lifestyle, which includes healthy eating habits. When someone has a genuine need to fill in a nutritional gap (such as, when directed by a doctor), I refer them to Liz Sue, a certified nutritionist, for 'supplemental' advice. Below, Liz offers five questions to ask yourself when choosing a supplement."
1. How do they break down?
2. How are they manufactured?
3. Are they manufacturers or marketers? / What is their proof?
4. What are their testing standards?
5. What kind of guarantees are offered?
- Does it disintegrate to be bioavailable to the cells? If it doesn’t break down, your body cannot use it and it will be excreted whole. Ask the Porta Potty guys. They will tell you.
- What is disintegrating if it breaks down?
- Does it have artificial colors, dyes, or sweeteners in it?
- Is there Aspartame or Sucralose or some other artificial sweetener in it?
2. How are they manufactured?
- Is high heat used to process the supplement?
- What kind of method do they use to pull the nutrients they want from their ingredients?
- Is it food based, synthetic, or an isolate?
3. Are they manufacturers or marketers? / What is their proof?
- Is the manufacturer committed to scientific research, not just marketing research?
- Do they publish this information on their websites?
- Is the research published in scientific medically referenced third party, peer-reviewed journals and not as a paid advertisement?
- Do pro-athletes and practitioners use the vitamins without payment for endorsement?
- Do they approach the company or did the company approach them?
4. What are their testing standards?
- Do you know if the raw materials are tested even if they come with a certification that says they are clear of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and heavy metals?
- Does the company test every batch of raw ingredients to protect you and your family from any type of contaminant? And to protect the integrity of the product?
5. What kind of guarantees are offered?
- Does the company offer a 100% money back guarantee?
- Does the company have the four guarantees of Ingredient Purity, Honest Labeling, Product Potency, and Delivery into your system?
